She was a member of the Landtag of Baden-Württemberg from June 2001 to June 2024, representing the constituency of Heidelberg. From May 2011 to September 2022, she was State Minister for Science, Research and the Arts. Since June 2024, she has been managing director of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation.
